Get Back Your Rhythm and Soul at Church

Do you want to fill in that void in your life with something fun. Then try taking some dance lessons at your local Church. Some local churches in Queens, NY offer some excellent dance classes to get you back in rhythm while nourishing your soul. Enjoy a Cuban Style Salsa Dance Lesson/Social at St. Fidelis Church in College Point Queens on Friday nights starting at 7:30 pm in the Madonna Room. These free events will take place on January 17th, 24th, 31st and February 7th, 14th, 21st, and the 28th. St. Fidelis is located at 123-06 14th Avenue in College Point, NY. Some other Parishes in Queen's such as St. Michael’s Church in Flushing offer Line Dancing Classes. Line Dancing is a fun activity which burns many calories. Columbian Arts & Dance: Family Day in Flushing Queens

The Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts in conjunction with the Center for Traditional Music and Dance – Folk Columbia will hold a Family Day event on Saturday, October 22nd. This special event will take place at the Flushing Town Hall located at 137-35 Northern Boulevard in Queens, NY.  The event promises to offer a variety of Columbian dance workshops, live music and other traditional folk art demonstrations.  This is a great opportunity to come out and discover traditional Columbian culture at a family friendly, festive environment.  Tickets will be sold at the event which is programmed for a 1 pm start time.  For more information and to purchase tickets in advance click on the link below.

Summer in the City: A Dancing Paradise

Summer in NYC is a dancer's paradise. One could enjoy summer time concerts, dance classes and free events through out the five boroughs. Whether out near the water's edge or enjoying time in the inner city, there are some excellent events ready to be explored. Many outdoor events are free and offer free dance class to kick off. Check out some free indoor social events to refine your dancing technique. Several dance studios in the city offer some low cost dance social events which provide a reasonable opportunity to improve your dancing technique. Discover your Dance Skills at the Library

Dance has provided me with a world of enjoyment, confidence and control. Dance has provided me with freedom to express my thoughts, passions and discover hidden talent. Libraries offer excellent free resources for aspiring dancers of all levels. You could find books,videos and participate in free dance classes. Dance classes are offered in many genres and levels by talented instructors. Each of these dance lessons provide a unique opportunity to discover your hidden talent. Try searching the events page of your local library or better yet visit it in person. If your local branch doesn't offer free dance lessons request it by speaking to the branch manager. Maybe you could even share your talents by teaching a class.

Tango Time in Brooklyn

Get your Tango shoes out and head down to the Brooklyn Public Library.  The library is offering a Tango class /workshop. This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself to this classic Latin dance.
The classes are programmed for Saturdays starting February 5th at the Central Library  2nd floor meeting room. The Central Library is located at 10 Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn.

Get Your Zumba On in the Bronx

Get your body moving this new year the Zumba way. Zumba is an sultry blend of Latin dances mixed into a high energy routine. A great way to shape up your body while learning some new Latin dance moves exists at the Davidson Community Center. Free Zumba dance class is being offered at the Davidson Community Center located at 2038 Davidson Avenue (corner of West Burnside Avenue). English Country Dances in Staten Island

Country dances are a fun way of socializing and keeping fit. Get your body dancing to English Country folk music by attending the English Country Dance Class at the Staten Island Historical Society. The dance event will take be held on Wednesday January 19, 2011 on the 2nd floor of the 3rd County Courthouse. Event time is from 7pm to 9pm.
